Barrett's shop, St Neots, pre 1911.
Barrett’s corner shop is in Victoria House. To the left is a boarded up shop which became Thomas Barnes Greengrocers. Although Thomas was in St Neots by 1904 when his daughter Elsie May was born it is not certain that he was in this shop. However, he was in the shop in the 1911 Census. The next shop on the left was a saddler’s shop owned by Alfred Harry Bowtell (the shop sign says ‘Bowtell Saddler’). In the 1911 Census William Arthur Wynne was the harness maker living here. Next on the left was the Fox and Hounds Inn. The view continues down the south side of the Market Square.
