Buckden - A1 roundabout, Shell garage June 2013
The Shell garage on the A1 at Buckden roundabout. The boarded-up house to the left is the former home of the Robinson family who ran Robinson’s Garage on this site from c1930 to the 1980s.
The roundabout was constructed in 1962 when the A1 was diverted around Buckden village, the Great North Road (A1) previously running straight through the village is now the High Street.
A rarity occurs in this photo, showing that fuel prices today (Feb 2015) have dropped about 30 pence per litre since this photo was taken on 25 June 2013.
