Buckden, internal view up spire of St. Mary's parish church
An uncommon view looking vertically upwards inside the spire from the old bell frame chamber of St. Mary’s church, Buckden. The original oak bell frame was constructed in 1637, the same year that the Taj Mahal was constructed in India, although not to the same exquisite standards! The old bell frame was decommisioned but left in place when the new steel frame was inserted below it with the five original bells plus one to celebrate the year 2000 millenium. The ladder leads to the tower parapet from where other photos in this Buckden village category were taken. The church tower and spire are not open to the public.
