Round Barrow at Hail Weston - 23rd October 2016
This fascinating round barrow has been constructed in the parish of Hail Weston by a company called Sacred Stones who have built a long barrow in Wiltshire. Inside are niches where urns can be placed. On 23rd October 2016 an Open Day was held to allow visitors to have a guided tour. One of the builders explained how it was constructed using stone from Oundle – with a dry stone wall technique and lime mortar where needed. The surface of the barrow has been seeded with grass seed.
This is the first Round Barrow to be built in Cambridgeshire for thousands of years. The Mayor and Mayoress of St Neots are pictured here with the landowners Richard and Cordelia Squire and the builders – Sacred Stones.
